About the Race

2009 represents the 8th year of the Chasing The Turkeys 5k, it has been a great small event.  Each year we have seen between 100-225 participants, with the last couple years being right at that higher mark.  We are raising money for YoungLife Cherokee County.  HealthSprout Chiropractic & Wellness has been promoting natural health for 9 years in Cherokee County, and is committed to being a Christian wellness center, and supporting Christian charities.

We proactively do this not as a way to be exclusive, but rather to be entirely inclusive and our mission is to reach as many people as possible from the most diverse backgrounds possible in our pursuit of health!

The 5k runs through the Towne Lake Hills Community, starting in front of the clubhouse running through the parking lot out the East entrance to the tennis courts.  Down the big hill, running counter clockwise around Towne Lake Hills Parkway.  We turn off at goldpoint trace running to the end of the road and back, continuing around Towne Lake Hills Parkway. Turn South on Towne Lake Parkway running back to the Towne Lake Hills entrance, continuing past the first clubhouse entrance to the East entrance into the tennis courts (the same one we ran out of) and finish 200M ahead.

There are three noteworthy uphill climbs, and an additional two smaller ones.  The course is challenging, and we hope to see a sub 16 time one year, though highly talented 5k runners with 15min PR’s have been unable to break that mark on this course.  It is a challenge for walkers, though doable by almost anyone with a good measure of perserverance.
